Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ’s

1

How long does therapy last?

Your first session will be approximately 75 minutes. Each session thereafter will be 50 minutes. Group sessions are 75 minutes. Regarding your length of care, most clients typically attend for 3-6 months or until they feel they have reached their therapeutic goals. Because you are in control of your services, how often and how long you attend is truly up to you. It all depends on your desire and motivation to move through the therapy process.

2

How often will we meet?

I strive to provide the most effective care. In an effort to help you be successful in therapy by creating a healthy therapeutic relationship, it is most effective for us to meet weekly for the first 6-8 sessions. Once you start making progress toward your goals, we can change the frequency of sessions. I do, however, understand that life happens and time restrictions or scheduling conflicts may impact your ability to meet weekly. With that in mind, I offer bi-weekly and monthly appointments. If you’d like to start with weekly then transition over time to bi-weekly, then monthly, that is totally your choice. Your length of care depends on your ability, desire, and motivation to proceed through the therapeutic process and work towards your goals.

3

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept credit card, debit card, HSA/FSA, cash and check. Payments with card are subject to a 3% processing fee. Payment is expected by the end of each session unless you have made other arrangements with me.

4

What will we talk about?

I am not afraid to talk about anything you need to talk about. I will roll up my sleeves and get in there with you to get as deep as we need to go in order to help you make real, lasting changes. There is nothing you can say that will shock me, and there is nothing to be ashamed of. Let’s get it all out, whatever the topic. We can go wherever you need.

5

I’m not a woman, can I still be your client?

Absolutely! While women and teen girls are my specialty, I have experience treating a variety of clients and am willing and able to treat other individuals if we are a good fit.

6

What if we aren’t a good fit?

I believe successful therapy depends on a great client-therapist fit, and finding a great fit isn’t always easy. If you ever feel like we aren’t a good fit and things aren’t working out, I am happy to provide you with some referrals that might suit your needs. You don’t have to be locked in with me. I want you to be successful and get what you need from the therapeutic relationship.

7

What is your cancelation policy?

Appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel your appointment within 24 hours, you will be charged $60 unless you reschedule your appointment within the same calendar week. Any no-call, no-show appointments will be charged the full session fee.

8

Do you offer reduced services?

I believe everyone should have the opportunity to receive therapeutic services. For college students who can provide a valid student ID, individual therapy sessions are offered at a reduced rate of $60. If you are not a college student but still need financial assistance, sliding-scale rates may be offered on an individual basis depending on availability. You will need to contact me to discuss your financial concerns to see if a sliding-scale rate is available for you or if a payment plan can be worked out.
